The thermal behavior of electrical vehicle wiring systems is being investigated as part of this project. For this purpose, a new measurement method is being developed which makes it possible to determine the real conductor and insulation temperatures of the lines in the vehicle electrical system.

On the one hand, this makes it possible to determine that the limit temperatures of the insulation material are not exceeded in any area of the vehicle electrical system. This makes it easy to check the design of the vehicle electrical system.

On the other hand, it is also possible to identify individual areas in which distances to predefined limit temperatures may be too small.

This method can also be used to optimize the electrical system in terms of cross-section or insulation reduction.

In order to validate the measurement methodology in real vehicles, field tests are carried out with industrial partners.
