In the summer semester 2023, Professor Isabel Piper Shafir will hold a CALAS Visiting Professorship at the Universities of Bielefeld and Kassel

Isabel Piper Shafir is a psychologist who studied at the Universidad Diego Portales (Chile) and received her PhD from the Universidad Autónoma de Barcelona. She currently researches and teaches at the Facultad de Ciencias Sociales of the Universidad de Chile, where she directs the program "Psicología social de la Memoria". Research on memoria, or cultures of memory in Latin America, is the focus of her studies and projects. The focus is on the connections between memory culture, human rights and forms of resistance against human rights violations.

At the Institute of Romance Studies, Ms. Piper Shafir will offer a seminar on the topic of Memoria in June/July. The seminar will take place as a block seminar, the exact times can be found online via the Romance Studies course catalog ("Memorias Colectivas y Derechos Humanos en América Latina"). Currently, there are still a few places available.
