Education that lost its home: Chto Delat in conversation with Mi You
As part of the exhibition THE EDUCATIONAL WEB at the Kunstverein in Hamburg, artists, theorists and educators will discuss the politics of aesthetic education today in a symposium on 1 and 2 July.
On the second day of the symposium, Chto Delat (Dmitry Vilensky and Olga Egerova) will speak with Mi You about their former programme The School of Engaged Art and its transformation into The School of Emergencies. Because of the Russian-Ukrainian war, the school itself and many of its students had to flee Russia and other eastern states and found asylum in Germany. This had an unexpected consequence: the transformation of knowledge transfer in a state of emergency, under the conditions of emigration, in refugee camps and in a place far from home. Together, Chto Delat and Mi You discuss this transformation and the forms of education that emerged from a process that is now taking place in real time in Germany.
