Digital fabrication methods open up new possibilities in the architectural design and manufacturing process. This semester we will dive into form finding with Grasshopper and Kangaroo to design ceiling elements that we will analyze for structural performance in Karamba3D. The goal of this process is to print reinforcement structures on thin surface shells (example image on Moodle). For this process, you will learn how to design a parametric surface in Grasshopper, analyze it to revise your design, and most importantly, how to control and program toolpaths for milling and 3D printing with a six-axis robotic arm.
