New professor for vocational education with a focus on technology didactics - reinforcement at the Institute for Vocational Education and Training

We are delighted to welcome Prof. Dr.-Ing. Matthias Haack as the new Professor of Vocational Education with a focus on technology didactics at the Institute of Vocational Education and Training at the University of Kassel. Prof. Dr.-Ing. Haack will take over the fourth - previously vacant - professorship at the Institute on April 1 of this year. In his specialist area, he is responsible for teaching and research on didactic aspects of the training of vocational teachers in the industrial-technical field with a focus on metal and electrical engineering.

Here is some background information on our new colleague:

Prof. Dr.-Ing. Haack completed his doctorate at Leibniz Universität Hannover in 2022 with a thesis in electrical engineering on "Learner-centered activating teaching with large cohorts for university courses" and completed his doctorate with the grade "very good" as Dr.-Ing. From October 2016 to October 2021, he worked as a research assistant in the Department of Didactics of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at Leibniz Universität Hannover in research and teaching. Further stations in his career included working as a research assistant at the Center for Teacher Education and Subject Didactics (Department of Didactic Innovation) at the University of Passau and a one-year deputy professorship for metal and mechanical engineering/vocational didactics at the Technical University of Dresden. His work focuses on activating teaching-learning arrangements and the support of teaching-learning processes through AR/VR technologies in electrical, information and metal technology as well as vocational training for sustainable development.
