KOMP-HI project team at the AI lunch: An exchange about AI in higher education

The Department of Information Systems and Systems Development and the Department of Public Law, IT Law and Environmental Law recently had the opportunity to take part in the AI Lunch. This event, organized by VDI/VDE Innovation + Technik GmbH, provided a platform for exchange on the application of artificial intelligence in higher education.

Our team took this opportunity to present the KOMP-HI project, an innovative venture that aims to personalize and improve learning processes with the help of AI technology. The project focuses on strengthening students not only in their subject-specific skills, but also in interdisciplinary skills.

Prof. Hornung and the team from the Department of Public Law, IT Law and Environmental Law talked in particular about the data protection challenges that arise when implementing AI technologies in education. This discussion was of crucial importance as it shed light on the legal aspects that need to be considered in the development and application of AI systems.

There was great interest: around 50 participants from various universities were present to learn more about KOMP-HI and the associated legal issues. The exchange was fruitful and showed how important the dialog between technological and legal fields is in order to create innovative and at the same time legally sound educational solutions.

We are grateful for the opportunity to present our project at the KI-Lunch and look forward to incorporating the knowledge gained into the further development of KOMP-HI.
