In the ranking of the economists from Germany, Austria and Switzerland who are currently doing the most research between 2020 and 2024, Prof. Dr. Jan Marco Leimeister (Department of Information Systems) is ranked 22nd out of 100. Prof. Dr. Stefan Seuring-Stella (Department of Supply Chain Management) is listed in 53rd place, followed by Prof. Dr. Matthias Söllner (Department of Information Systems and Systems Development) in 69th place. Söllner is even in the top group in the research ranking for economists under the age of 40, coming in a very good 6th place. Prof. Dr. André Hanelt (Department of Management of Digital Transformation) is also in the top group of the best 20, where he is ranked 15th.

The lifetime achievement ranking looks at all research work over the course of a career. Once again, Prof. Dr. Jan Marco Leimeister is listed here, taking 11th place in the top group. Prof. Dr. Stefan Seuring-Stella is ranked 61st, Prof. Dr. Matthias Söllner 193rd, while Prof. Dr. Patrick Spieth (Department of Technology and Innovation Management and Entrepreneurship) is listed in 234th place.

The KOF Institute of the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) Zurich was commissioned by Wirtschaftswoche to examine the scientific output of all business economists working at professorships, Fraunhofer or Max Planck Institutes in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. The ranking covers publications from 2020 up to and including 2024 in 860 business administration journals. The lifetime value ranking takes into account all articles ever published. The rankings cover the publications of business economists who research and publish in Germany, Austria and Switzerland.
