Successful disputation by Anuschka Schmitt

On July 10, 2024, Anuschka Schmitt successfully defended her dissertation entitled "Artificial Intelligence, Augmentation, and Agency". In her thesis, she examined the interaction between humans and artificial intelligence (AI) and how the potential of an increasingly AI-supported world can be better adapted to humans. Anuschka Schmitt showed why the hoped-for and theoretical benefits of AI augmentation are currently difficult to realize. In her dissertation, she presents alternative design solutions to overcome current challenges of AI augmentation and achieve desirable effects beyond efficiency gains.

After the successful disputation, Anuschka Schmitt was honored with a doctoral hat. This hat, designed by her colleagues and commented on by Prof. Dr. Jan Marco Leimeister, represents shared experiences and special features of the newly completed doctorate.
