The paper “Top management team characteristics and digital innovation: Exploring digital knowledge and TMT interfaces”, authored by Sebastian Firk, Yannik Gehrke, André Hanelt and Michael Wolff has been published in the renowned journal Long Range Planning. The study employs panel data regressions to a longitudinal dataset of US industrial firms and finds a positive relation between digital knowledge in the top management team and digital innovation, on average. Additionally, the investigation reveals evidence for the integrative roles of CEOs and CDOs. However, the study also indicates that the CDO's integrating role can be hampered by a strong hierarchical structure in the top management team.
