The paper, “Digital at the edge – antecedents and performance effects of boundary resource deployment”, authored by Patryk Zapadka, André Hanelt and Sebastian Firk, was recently published in the renowned Journal of Strategic Information Systems. With digital innovation proliferating across contexts, offering boundary resources such as application programming interfaces (APIs) becomes a strategic option for more and more firms. The empirical study, drawing on a longitudinal cross-industry dataset, investigates which firms offer which kinds of APIs and if this strategy benefits their performance.
