2011 VW PostDoc

For the first time, the Volkswagen Foundation is also supporting engineering sciences in its Africa Initiative. Together with two European foundations, it wants to open up new opportunities for young scientists in Africa.

Engineering sciences are still in their infancy in sub-Saharan Africa. With application-oriented research projects, African scientists could contribute to finding adequate solutions for problems such as resource scarcity or questions of food and energy supply.
