Production technology for auto-regulative subsurface IRRIGATION PIPES
Production technology for auto-regulative subsurface irrigation pipes (funding period 2013 - 2016, Funded by Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy)
The joint R&D project run by the Institute for Agricultural Engineering and Weber Ultrasonics Weld & Cut GmbH is developing an economic production methodology for auto-regulative subsurface irrigation pipes. Existing pipe materials suitable for the above-mentioned purpose are characterized by prohibitive costs, impeding application in agriculture or horticulture. The newly developed technology will replace the existing homogenous material by a compound material. Low-cost components will be welded together by means of Ultrasonic Technology provided by the project partner.
Within the frame of the project, the Institute for Agricultural Engineering is developing and defining technical requirements, and assures applicability of the developed results by means of laboratory and field testing. Furthermore the institute’s work will include investigations with respect to long-term resistance against fouling processes.
