Aim of this doctoral work is to research the energetic use of the vinasses of the mezcal production from Agave Salmiana. For this reason, anaerobic digestion of the vinasses will be tested for biogas production in laboratory conditions and the influence of saponin content on the fermentation of the vinasses will be evaluated. On the other hand, the vinasses and digestate will be tested on microbial fuel cells, in order to find out the potential of electricity production of vinasses and digestate as substrates for microbial fuel cells.
