Real-time detection of cutting blades sharpness in agricultural machinery
Constantly increasing fuel costs are a significant part of the operating effort of today farms and affect directly the competitiveness and operating income. In the Agriculture with its voluminous crops (grass, corn silage, straw, etc.) is crushing one of the important basic procedures. Here, the fuel consumption (at fixed harvest parameters) is essentially determined by the condition of the cutting attachment. For this reason, the need of an optimized cutting process is particularly high. This means that a grinding of the cutting blade just in time is required. Therefore the goal of the project is a real-time detection of cutting blades sharpness based on acoustical measures.
