2016 SMART BEET - Development of an electronic "SmartHarvestSystem" for a sugar beet harvester

By the end of the market regulation of sugar beets in 2017 the acreage of sugar beets will expand. This leads to a longer process time with a longer storage period on the field (up to three months). At this time the reduction of losses will become more important.It is well known that storage losses rise by beet damage during the harvest process. The project objective is an automatic monitoring system for modern sugar beet harvesters to reduce beet damage before storage. That means more refined sugar with the same amount of beets.
