Early Detection of insect pests in silos by acoustics methods
In Germany, cereals, oilseeds and grain legumes contribute in the form of food crops as well as in-house feed significantly to the success of agriculture businesses. Therefore the avoidance of yield losses due to storage pests is important for German agriculture. This applies for the domestic consumption as much as for maintaining the economical value in international trade. The aim of this project is the development and establishment of an acoustic measurement system for the early detection of pests in modern grain storage facilities. With this a timely and differentiated control and thus a reduction of loss in storage is possible.
