Research Project
DeepBluSky - Development of a comprehensive APV simulation tool for agriculture and power generation
Summary
The aim is to develop a model and implement a simulation software to comprehensively describe APV (combined agri-culture with photovoltaics). The simulation predicts both the agricultural yield and the amount of electricity generated by photovoltaics (PV). The software can also be used to estimate the investment costs for PV as well as to calculate the costs for the agricultural management of the land. In particular, the software takes into account the strong coupling between the PV system and the crop in terms of light, heat and water balance. This can make an important contribution to the energy transition and to greater resilience of agriculture with regard to climate change.
