Although she started her career in teaching, she was also trained as a researcher. As a PhD student with a DAAD scholarship, she is now part of the SEIAS research group.
Forschungsschwerpunkte
Htet has not only the enthusiasm but also a practical mindset on topics such as agrobiodiversity, climate change, ecosystems, and ecosystem services. Her past work has included plant biodiversity in rural home gardens. However, it is primarily in fieldwork that she has gained experience with socially engaged research methods such as Participatory Variety Selection in different areas of Myanmar. At SEIAS, she is working on her PhD thesis with the working title "Assessing local communities' knowledge of cultural ecosystem services and socio-ecological vulnerabilities to climate change in the Inle Lake region".
