Timber construction suppliers on excursion to Lower Austria and Vienna

The 2018 excursion led to Lower Austria and Vienna from June 21 - 23. The program included visits to woodworking companies, innovative timber structures and historic roof structures. The excursion program included 13 stops in 2 ½ days.

Five objects are briefly presented as examples:

Rubner Holzbau in Ober-Grafendorf

An exciting guided tour with operational insights into an individual, object-oriented production of large timber structures (up to 50 m span) we were allowed to visit at Rubner Holzbau in Ober-Grafendorf. We were guided by Mr. Wernecke.

Coachman's stable in Mauerbach

During the visit of the Kutscherstall in Mauerbach we could see the conversion of a historical building into an innovative community center with a new roof supporting structure. We were accompanied by Mr. Mramor (architect.)
Göttweig Monastery and Vienna Imperial Palace

At these two objects, the students were given the opportunity to view historic, well-preserved roof support structures. Static backgrounds and necessary repairs were explained by Dr. Zehetgruber (Stift Göttweig) and Dr. Hochreiner (Wiener Hofburg) on site.

Hoho-Sea City Vienna

This year's excursion concluded with a site visit to the Hoho, currently the world's tallest wooden skyscraper. The design and the structural background were explained by Mr. Woschitz (structural engineer).

After exciting days the excursion ended in Vienna, which many used for a long weekend.
