On August 23, the hr television broadcast the feature "Trees of the Future", in which, among other things, our current research on the bonded wood-concrete composite is reported. The broadcast can be found in the hr-Mediathek, the part on the wood-concrete composite can be viewed here.
"Wood is a beacon of hope when it comes to building the future. Wood as a building material is light, pliable and grows back. But how should it be used to make it truly sustainable?" This was the opening question posed by moderator Nina Schmidt, and an exciting experiment was carried out in the laboratory of the University of Kassel with a bonded wood-concrete composite element, in which a precast reinforced concrete element was connected to the wood via a thin adhesive joint. In this way, wood and concrete are optimally used. The construction method is both efficient and resource-saving.
