Prof. Clobes from the Structural Steel Group visited the University Federico II in Naples on May 18 and exchanged views with Prof. Elena Mele from the Department of Structural Analysis regarding future collaborations.
Prof. Mele and her colleagues are doing intensive research in the field of seismic retrofitting of existing structures.
Together with employees of the engineering firm EHS from Kassel, Prof. Clobes was able to inspect the extensive test facilities. In particular, the two large shaking tables, which can be operated asynchronously, as well as the testing machine for testing compression members in which original columns of buildings from the 2009 Aquila earthquake were tested, left a lasting impression.
