Abstract:
This talk provides introductory information on sentiment mining which is the discovery of opinion or sentiment arising from the processing of natural language. It is currently a popular area, given the interest in the use of text-based user-generated content arising from the popularity of social media services, including Twitter, Facebook and blogging.

In his talk Prof Mulvenna will discuss the development of a sentiment mining algorithm, its intended use in a commercial application and the results of using the algorithm in terms of performance.
