Hot off the press! Stefan Beljean: Amerikanische Elite-Hochschulen und ihre Zulassungskriterien. Zur Rhetorik und organisationalen Funktion „ganzheitlicher“ Bewertungen

In his latest article Stefan Beljean deals with the admission procedures of American elite universities with a special focus on their philosophy of holistic admissions.

Stefan Beljean's article traces the history of this principle of university admissions and subjects it to a critical organisational sociological analysis. The author's central thesis is that the holistic admissions approach only superficially stems from a sense of responsibility towards applicants, but rather serves the tangible interests of elite universities, such as maintaining their financial stability or preserving their legitimacy in the eyes of the public.
