ELiNa @ Photonics Europe in Straßburg
From April 7th to April 12th, the Extreme Light for Nanostructures group participated with three contributions in the SPIE Photonics Europe conference "Lasers and Photonics for Advanced Manufacturing". Central topic was the generation of laser induced periodic surface structures (LIPSS) on dielectrics and metals. (i) Prof. Camilo Florian Baron talked about the fabrication of regular LIPSS on steel and the influence of heat accumulation and debris in its formation process. (ii) Dr. Bastian Zielinski presented results included on his PhD thesis (Open Access PDF) regarding the control of the contribution of plasmons during the generation of LIPSS on pre-structured fused silica. (iii) B.Sc. Florian Fiedler had fruitful discussions during his poster presentation on the production of LIPSS with temporally shaped femtosecond laser pulses on AlSi10Mg alloy fabricated following both casted and additively manufactured (laser powder bed fusion) methods.
