Depending on their cultural backgrounds, students may differ with regard to the rules they follow when taking turns in conversations / discussions. For some of them, overlapping of speaking turns is not regarded as an offence. Other students, however, may find it necessary to introduce an interruption explicitly and politely. Also, some students may even prefer not to interrupt at all.
