The more diverse ideas are considered in a university's sustainability process, the more innovative the solutions can be. This is how sustainable university development works: through participatory processes!

Go Green is the motto of the Green Office and runs through all activities. This is also the name of our first cluster, which focuses on informing, raising awareness and involving all university stakeholders. All university members are invited to contribute to a more sustainable university, share their expertise and provide impetus.

Did you know that you can save around 10% energy by adopting more sustainable user behavior?

Sustainable behavior

We are becoming increasingly aware that our consumption and usage behavior has an ecological and social impact, but also an impact on ourselves. We can positively influence these aspects with small changes in behavior. Through practical projects, the Green Office aims to inform and motivate students and employees to adopt sustainable behavior.

Measures to raise user awareness

The Green Office conducts energy tours of the university's buildings together with Energy Efficiency Management and the TGM. During the energy tour, technical as well as organizational and user-related energy saving potentials are recorded. Different rooms are examined as examples (e.g. stairwell, office, kitchenette, PC pool, laboratory, lecture hall, technical room, ...). The users provide the Projketteam with important information. On this basis, tailored recommendations for action are developed and implemented. So far, energy tours have taken place in the Campus Library, the Murhard Library, at the AVZ site and in Witzenhausen.

The Green Office developed the "WE ALL" energy-saving campaign for the 2022/2023 heating period. Posters and checklists with useful information and tips on saving energy, as well as energy-saving thermometers, were distributed to university members. The campaign was accompanied by three energy-saving action days.
