Sustainability 2024 transformation workshop

On 24.10.2024, the Faculty of Humanities and the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering invite you to the inaugural lectures of Prof. Dr. Andra Horcea-Milcu, Prof. Dr. Stefan Lechtenböhmer and Prof. Dr. Martin Pehnt. The inaugural lectures kick off the workshop "Transformative Science-Society Relationships using the Example of the Energy Transition", which will continue on 25.10.2024.

Workshop "Transformative Science-Society Relationships Using the Example of the Energy Transition" | October 25, 2024 | 9:00 - 16:00 | Neue Denkerei

The University of Kassel has made an important contribution to the German and global energy transition and continues to do so. The legendary book "Energiewende" from 1979 was co-authored by scientists from Kassel. Research in the field of renewable energies at the university and at Fraunhofer is world-leading and has led to numerous spin-offs, including globally relevant companies such as SMA. The aim of the workshop is to take stock of current energy research at the university and in particular to examine its relevance and interaction with society.

The presentations will be held in German or English.

  • 9.15 - 10.45 a.m.: Workshop session 1
    Energy transition related research at Kassel University - contributions to the energy transition 1
    Format: 2-3 scientific presentations (of 20 minutes) from different disciplines, 1 stakeholder intervention.
  • 11.00 - 12.30: Workshop session 2
    Energy transition related research at Kassel University - contributions to the energy transition 2
    Format: Poster presentations with elevator pitches for all submitted posters (alternatively: presentations as in 1.)
  • 12.30 - 13.30: fingerfood, networking poster presentation
  • 13.30 - 15.30: Fishbowl Discussion (in English)
    Technologies and the humanities for a sustainable transformation - where do they meet and how far apart are they?

Call for Contributions for Panel 1 and 2

Invited are all researchers from the University of Kassel doing research related to the energy transition; the research presented may be technical or non-technical, but a link to its relevance for the overall energy transition should be made. We particularly encourage submissions that combine technical research with implementation/application in society, business or government.

Please send proposals for short talks and poster presentations (with elevator pitch) to Prof. Dr. Stefan Lechtenböhmer(lechtenboehmer@uni-kassel.de)by 30.09.2024.
