Recognition of academic achievements

In principle, the rule applies that all modules from other, comparable courses of study with a comparable number of credits can be recognized as modules upon application. Corresponding applications can be picked up at the examination office.

Modules from a course of study that is NOT industrial engineering but is related to it (for example, a course of study in economics or engineering) may also be recognized if the work performed at another university is

• in terms of content (subject perspective)
• in terms of scope (semester hours and/or credits) and
• in terms of requirements (level of the course, examination certificates)

correspond to the modules of the Industrial Engineering and Management program at the University of Kassel.

You yourself know your achievements from other universities best. Therefore, please first carry out a preliminary check for recognition of academic achievements on your own. The more complete and informative your submitted documents are, the faster and easier it will be for you to have courses from other universities recognized. The Student Advisory Service will be happy to support you in this process and provide you with advice and assistance.

Credit transfer from other universities for the degree program in Industrial Engineering and Management at the University of Kassel is done in three steps:

If you want to have courses from another university recognized for the degree program in Industrial Engineering and Management, please first check independently which courses from your former university  match the existing modules at the University of Kassel, degree program in Industrial Engineering and Management in terms of content, scope and the requirements .

• The content match also refers to the subject perspective. (Guiding question: Does the content of my course at another university match the content of the individual course in the Industrial Engineering and Management program at the University of Kassel?)
• The scope refers to the number of semester hours and/or credits. (Guiding question: Does the number of semester hours or credits of my course at another university match the number of semester hours or credits of the individual course in the Industrial Engineering program at the University of Kassel?)
• The requirements refer to the level of the course and the corresponding examination certificates. (Guiding question: Does the level of my course from another university and the associated examination credits match the level of the individual course in the Industrial Engineering and Management program at the University of Kassel?)

In order to be able to compare your achievements from another university according to content, scope and requirements with the achievements in the study program Industrial Engineering and Management at the University of Kassel, you need information about the existing courses in the study program Industrial Engineering and Management at the University of Kassel. All important information can be found in the module manual and the examination regulations of the Bachelor's or Master's program in Industrial Engineering and Management (Bachelor &   Master) as well as on the respective program homepage (Bachelor &   Master) in the areas of information and downloads (homepage) and in the area of study structure (Bachelor &   Master).

Step 2 of 3

If you find courses at the University of Kassel in the Industrial Engineering and Management program that match your attended courses from another university according to step one, please submit

• a copy and an original of your transcript of grades,
• a module sheet or curriculum of each course of the other university
• as well as the module sheets of the corresponding courses at the University of Kassel (see Module Handbook of Industrial Engineering and Management (Bachelor &   Master))

present.

To simplify the crediting process, please mark the content intersections in both module sheets and note that the module sheet or curriculum from the other university must clearly indicate the content (subject perspective), the scope (semester hours per week and/or credits) and the requirement (level of the course, examination certificates) of your attended course according to step one.

Step 3 of 3

Please contact the Examination Office of Department 07 responsible for Industrial Engineering and Management with the complete documents according to step two. In the Examination Office, the documents you have submitted will be checked and adjusted if necessary. Finally, the examination board decides on the approval of the credit.

Can certificates from departments 7, 14, 15 and 16 be recognized for the industrial engineering program at the University of Kassel?

All certificates from the departments 07, 14, 15 and 16 required for the industrial engineering program are recognized. This also applies to oral examinations. The transcription is done directly by the examination office. In case of doubt, please contact the Industrial Engineering and Management Student Advisory Service.
