The Department of Power Electronics was represented by Jens Friebe in two presentations at the IEEE Applied Power Electronic Conference (APEC). The first presentation was part of the so-called Professional Educational Seminar on Controllable and Variable Magnetic Components in Power Electronics and dealt with the analytical modeling of the coupling of orthogonal magnetization of nonlinear magnetic materials or magnetic materials in partial saturation. This seminar was held jointly with colleagues from KU Leuven and CAU Kiel.

The second lecture dealt with an international initiative of a so-called Core Evaluation Kit for the characterization of soft magnetic materials and corresponding measurement methods, funded by the DFG.

The conference was preceded by a visit to the WEMPEC (Wisconsin Electric Machines and Power Electronics Consortium) at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. There has been a scientific exchange between the research groups for several years. In the winter semester, a student from the University of Kassel will spend a semester abroad at the University of Madison through the state program between Wisconsin and Hesse.
