CasCave
[Translate to englisch:] CasCave (Kasseler CAVE)
In the department of technical computer science exists a built up 3-sided immersive projection environment contrived in own direction.
The viewer is able to dive into a virtual 3D-world. According to the location Kassel this CAVE (Cave Automatic Virtual Environment) was given the name CasCave (Kasseler-CAVE). The image presentation technology occurs in the active stereo-process.
By means of electromagnetic tracking (FOB) the stereoscopic figures are adapted on a real-time basis on the actual point of view of the viewer. Many models can be displayed with a figure edge length of the projection projection screens of 2.5 m in each case in the scale 1:1. Thus, e.g., a human Avatar communication is possible in actual size.
The CasCave is operated at the moment by a 3-way-SLI PC and a CrystalEyes shutter glasses system. As input devices a Spacemouse, joystick as well as various steering wheels can be integrated for the driving simulation. Also a Microsoft Kinect could be implemented.
