Indication und Contraindication

Indications:

  • Affective disorders, e.g., depression (persistent or recurrent depressed mood and listlessness).
  • Anxiety disorders (anxiety that seems unreasonable, fear of certain situations such as crowds, fear of illness, seizure-like anxiety, panic attacks, constant worry)
  • Obsessive-compulsive disorders (certain thoughts or actions impose themselves and cannot be refrained from despite all efforts)
  • Somatoform disorders (chronic pain syndromes, physical complaints that occur in connection with stress/overload; physical complaints without a clear physical cause)
  • Psychological disorders and coping crises associated with chronic physical illnesses (diabetes mellitus, cystic fibrosis, Crohn's disease, etc.)
  • Adjustment disorders (psychological disorders that occur in the context of coping with a physical illness or a life crisis)
  • Post-traumatic stress disorders (reaction to severe stress, e.g. after an accident or violent experience)
  • Personality disorders (the persistent stressful tendency to behave and feel a certain way, e.g., full of anxiety and self-doubt, extremely conscientious and dutiful)
  • Eating disorders (anorexia, bulimia, obesity with psychological comorbidity; binge-eating disorder)
  • Sexual and gender identity disorders (lack of desire for sexual activity, sexual arousal disorder, orgasm disorder, persistent sense of belonging to the opposite sex)

 

Complementary indications in children:

  • Hyperkinetic syndrome
  • Social behavior disorders
  • Emotional disorders of childhood
  • Disorders of social functions with onset in childhood and adolescence

If, due to the nature and severity of the current symptomatology, outpatient therapy does not appear to be sufficient, inpatient treatment will be arranged.

 

Contraindications:

  • Patients with addiction problems, as long as the dependence on the addictive substance (alcohol, drugs, certain medications) exists. In order to start outpatient psychotherapy, a so-called detoxification (usually inpatient withdrawal) is a necessary prerequisite. For mediation, please contact an addiction counseling center.
