On December 14, 2016, the International Women's Club Kassel held its annual Advent tea. The donations collected at this charity event will benefit the German-American student exchange program of the German-American Club Association (VDAC).
This also gives students at the University of Kassel the opportunity to apply for a scholarship at selected partner universities in the USA. Prof. Dr. Claudia Finkbeiner praised the work of the International Women's Club and the many years of excellent cooperation with the Foreign Language Teaching and Learning Research and Intercultural Communication research group in Department 02 at the University of Kassel: "My sincere thanks go to the Kassel club and thus to all the women who do valuable work throughout the year and are committed to the wonderful cause of German-American student exchange."
The American student Amber Terry, who is studying mathematics and German at Troy University (Alabama) and is spending two semesters at the University of Kassel for the current exchange year, took the opportunity to introduce herself for the first time with a speech given in German and to report on her interesting impressions and experiences.
Prof. Finkbeiner concluded with her speech, in which she emphasized the great importance of a stay abroad for students. She emphasized the importance of German-American friendship, especially in view of their shared history. She concluded with a thought-provoking Chinese proverb: "Every thing has three sides: One that you see, one that I see, and one that we both don't see." According to Prof. Finkbeiner, exchanging ideas about these three sides is the most important prerequisite for peace and also for German-American understanding.
