Key competencies

Legal framework:

• Here you can find the framework for key competencies in Bachelor's and Master's degree programs at the University of Kassel.

• For all further details, please refer to your subject examination regulations.

Restrictions and conditions resulting from the examination regulations of the respective degree program must be observed when selecting courses and transferring credits.

Registration and Advising:

• BA and MA students must provide evidence of their additive key competencies at the examination office . If no certificate is issued about this by the provider(s):in the course, this form can be  which has to be signed and stamped by the lecturer, indicating the credits. A maximum of 6 credits per type of service may be awarded. The performance type is determined by the second column of the key competency table in the subject examination regulations. As a rule, at least two performance types must be covered if more than 6 credits are awarded for additive key competencies in the degree program.

Additive key competencies are key competencies to be acquired within the framework of separate courses at the University of Kassel designated for this purpose. They are not to be acquired in courses that belong to one's own degree program, but are intended to enable students to look beyond their own horizons and/or to strengthen job-related competencies.

Events for additive key competencies are offered by the following institutions, among others: 

• International Language Center

  In the free-of-charge offer Studium International of the International Language Center, a student can take up a certain number of places after agreement between the Language Center and the department. The course fee is to be paid by students of the FB 02 first, in the ISZ and is  refunded there after the proper completion of the course. Further offers....

  Here you can find the events bundled once again. You can select courses from other departments or according to competence areas.

Integrated key competencies are usually acquired automatically as part of your degree program after successful completion of certain modules (cf. examination regulations). 

Please note the criteria stated for recognition in your subject examination regulations. Passing the module (sub)examination is also a prerequisite for acquiring the integrative key competencies.
