Dr. Maren Kirchhoff is a researcher (post-doc) at the Department of Global Political Economy of Labour with a focus on Gender Relations in the DFG-funded research project "Die Bedeutung von Zeit in Aushandlungen um Arbeit und Migration". She is a member of the “Netzwerk Kritische Migrations- und Grenzregimeforschung (kritnet)”, the “Assoziation kritische Gesellschaftsforschung (AkG)” and the “Gewerkschaft für Erziehung und Wissenschaft (GEW)”.
Prior to her current employment she has pursued the following scholarly activities:
2021 - 2023: Research assistant at the professorship "Politics in Social Work" at the Department of Social Work at Fulda University of Applied Sciences in the research project "Local Responses to Precarious Migrants: Frames, Strategies and Evolving Practices in Europe" (subproject: Frankfurt am Main, cooperation with the local health department; joint project with the University of Oxford and the Vienna University of Technology; subproject funded in the funding line JPI Urban Europe "Knowledge Hub for Urban Transition" by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research).
2017 - 2021: PhD at the Department of Social Sciences, University of Osnabrück (title of PhD: "Auseinandersetzungen um Abschiebungen. Cracks in the deep hegemony of the border?"); recipient of the Hans Böckler Foundation PhD scholarship.
2015 - 2017: Research assistant at the professorship "Migration and Society", Institute for Migration Research and Intercultural Studies (IMIS), University of Osnabrück, as part of the DFG-funded D-A-CH project "Taking Sides. Protest against deportations in Austria, Germany and Switzerland ", project coordination and implementation of the German sub-study.
2013 - 2014: Research assistant within the DFG-funded D-A-CH project on protests against deportations (see above) at the International Center for Development and Decent Work (ICDD)/Department of Labour Migration Policy, University of Kassel, Germany.
2013 - 2014: Teaching position at the department of "European Integration and Political Economy", Institute of Political Science, Department of Social Sciences and Philosophy, Philipps-Universität Marburg, Germany.
2012 - 2013: International project coordination of the ILO-funded participatory research project "Social Security for Domestic Workers", ICDD/Department of Labour Migration Policy, University of Kassel, Germany.
2008 - 2012: Master’s degree in the programme Global Political Economy at the University of Kassel, Germany.
2006 - 2011: Study scholarship of the Friedrich-Ebert-Foundation.

"Social Security for Domestic Workers", ILO-funded participatory research project of the Research Network for Domestic Workers' Rights, from which the research manual "We want to be the protagonists of our own stories. A participatory research manual on how domestic workers and researchers can jointly conduct research" was published.
