International Cooperations
To allow scholars with an interest in animal-human relations easier access to international research discourses, we maintain cooperations with several international universities for (self-funded) research stays (for funded stays please see our HAS mobility program).
Especially in anglophone academia, human-animal studies has been present and active for quite some time now. Research in the field without taking the international context into account is hence practically not possible. Since in the German context human-animal studies is comparatively young and institutionally much less established, the connections between the German and anglophone discourse remain selective and limited to individual scholars. Our cooperations aim to establish more durable networks.
Our focus at Kassel is on historical human-animal studies. However, to reflect the interdisciplinary profile of the field, our networks exceed disciplinary boundaries. Our cooperations are open to all scholars across the university with a research interest in animal-human relations, including doctoral and master students. Moreover, we use our contacts to bring internationally leading scholars in the field of human-animal studies to Kassel, to also strengthen teaching and research in the field in Kassel.
Below, we introduce our current partners with their respective research areas. This will hopefully allow you to gain some general orientation in finding a potential host institution. For further information please contact:Prof. Dr. Mieke Roscher or Dr. André Krebber.
