Bachelor of Science in Urban and Regional Planning
A distinctive feature of all three bachelor programs in the ASL School of Architecture, Urban Planning, and Landscape Architecture, is the intensive interdisciplinary connection as a basis for multidisciplinary thinking and acting. This reflects current demands in the professional world, characterized by wide-ranging and constantly changing tasks of an interdisciplinary nature. The goal of the six-semester bachelor degree program is the development of knowledge and competencies that provide a solid foundation for further study in the master program and provides the qualifications for limited planning work in the contexts of spatial and structural design, as well as strategic and conceptual planning, or in other related planning areas.

Bachelor of Science Stadt- und Regionalplanung
Profilprägend für den Bachelorstudiengang Stadt- und Regionalplanung des Fachbereiches Architektur, Stadtplanung, Landschaftsplanung (ASL) ist eine intensive interdisziplinäre Verknüpfung mit den beiden Studiengängen Architektur und Landschaftsplanung / Landschaftsarchitektur als Grundlage für fachübergreifendes Denken und Handeln. Damit wird den heutigen Anforderungen an das Berufsbild entsprochen, das geprägt ist von breit gefächerten, interdisziplinär angelegten und sich stetig wandelnden Aufgaben. Ziel des 6-semestrigen Bachelorstudiengangs Stadt- und Regionalplanung ist das Erlangen von Kenntnissen und Kompetenzen, die eine fundierte Basis für das Masterstudium darstellen und zur Tätigkeit in begrenzten Tätigkeitsfeldern der Planung im baulich-räumlichen oder strategisch-konzeptionellen Kontext bzw. anderen affinen Aufgabengebieten befähigen.
The development of planning and design skills forms the core of the curriculum. Essential competencies are acquired during the entire course of studies. Included are key skills such as teamwork, time management, conceptual thinking, creative and scientific work, communication and presentation.
Introductory studios and project modules are the main instruments of acquiring and training these competencies. At the same time fundamental instructions are given in four study areas:
- General Sciences
- Fine Arts, Design and Presentation
- Tools, Processes and Technology
- Object of Planning and Planning Levels
In addition field-specific fundamentals addressing current and coming issues in architecture are being continually developed in the following areas:
- the conceptual and scientific aspect of planning (urban and regional development)
- the design-oriented artistic approach (urban planning).
The modular structure of the curriculum offers increasing possibilities for choosing and combining courses as students progress through the study program. It allows for knowledge and know-how to be individually determined and developed. In the fifth semester, a professional practice project accompanied by practice-related seminars serves as a bridge between theory and professional practice. It includes a personal analysis of the student’s strengths and his or her areas for further development. The subsequent courses and the final bachelor's project are designed in such a way that interests developed during the professional practice project may be explored further.
Die Ausbildung von Planungs- und Entwurfskompetenz bildet über den gesamten Studienverlauf hinweg den Kern des Curriculums. Darin enthalten sind wesentliche Schlüsselqualifikationen, wie die Fähigkeit zu Teamarbeit und Zeitmanagement, zu konzeptuellem, gestalterischem und wissenschaftlichem Arbeiten, Kommunikations-, Integrations- und Präsentationsfähigkeit u.a.m. Die Vermittlung erfolgt in Form von Einführungsstudios und Projektmodulen.
Parallel dazu findet – ASL- übergreifend – eine breite Grundlagenvermittlung in den vier Studienfeldern:
- Allgemeine Wissenschaften
- Bildende Kunst, Gestalten und Darstellen
- Instrumente, Verfahren und Technik
- Planungsgegenstände und Planungsebenen
statt, sowie der kontinuierliche Aufbau grundlegender fachspezifischer Kenntnisse in den beiden in der Berufspraxis geforderten Ausrichtungen der Stadt- und Regionalplanung:
- die planerisch-konzeptionelle und planungswissenschaftliche Ausrichtung der Planung (Stadt- und Regionalentwicklung)
- die entwurfsbezogene gestalterisch orientierte Ausrichtung (Städtebau).
Die Modulstruktur ermöglicht eine Wahl- und Kombinationsmöglichkeit, die mit fortschreitendem Studium zunimmt, um die Kompetenzfelder Wissen/Verstehen und Können sinnvoll miteinander zu verbinden. Im 5. Semester dient ein Praxisprojekt mit Berufspraktischen Studien zur Verknüpfung von Theorie und Praxis und einer persönlichen Stärken-Schwächen-Analyse. Der weitere Studienverlauf und die abschließende Bachelorarbeit sind so konzipiert, dass die spätestens im Praxisprojekt ausgebildete Interessenlagen intensiviert werden können.
