To implement the initial architectural idea in a built structure, the supporting structure is a crucial part. In order to design coherently and meaningfully, it makes sense to develop the architectural and the structural design simultaneously from the beginning. Through this parallel development, the supporting structure becomes part of the architecture.
The consultation at the TWE department offer students the opportunity to include the supporting structure in their design at an early stage of their seminar and project work. The weekly supervision appointments serve to coordinate design parameters relevant to the structural system. This is accompanied by a deeper understanding of the structure as well as an integrated design. At the same time, the students' communication skills are trained.
Attendance of three consultation appointments and a short documentation of the further development of the structure can be credited as a course achievement.
