Profile
The field of "Water Ecology in Landscape Planning" deals with ecological and planning aspects of water bodies and water landscapes. One focus of our work is the ecology of large and small streams and lakes in the context of anthropogenic stressors.
As part of the Institute for Landscape Architecture and Landscape Planning in Faculty 6 (Architecture - Urban Planning - Landscape Planning), our department focus on ecological topics of landscape planning in order to be able to incorporate scientific thinking and methods into planning processes. We integrate these aspects into our teaching in the bachelor and master programs as well as in our research. In general, our field aims at combining basic research in aquatic ecology with applied water and nature conservation in order to protect aquatic landscapes as habitats and hot-spots of biodiversity, and thus also the resource water as an inherited good for humans.
