Project work in the metal/wood workshop
MPO AL 2023
Examination performance
One practical examination: planning and professional and appropriate implementation of a workpiece
A practical exercise (4 SWS), can only be taken after completing the coursework in the three seminars of module AL-M2.
Objective: Independent production of a workpiece made of wood or metal or a combination of both materials with the corresponding documentation of the planning and implementation. The total working time on your project is approx. 60 hours (4 SWS).
Preparation: Plan your project carefully! Think carefully about what your project should look like and what function it should have. Plan the individual work steps right from the start.
Coordinate with the workshop masters: Before you start implementing your project independently, the feasibility must be agreed with the workshop foremen. Two meetings are necessary for this. The scheduling takes place in coordination with the workshop foremen.
First meeting:
For the first meeting to discuss your project, please submit the following documents (max. 2 DIN A 4 pages) in writing to the workshop masters, stating your name, the semester you are in and an assurance that you meet the requirements for carrying out the practical exercise:
- Project name / description of your planned workpiece
- Motivation / justification for your choice of project
- Handmade sketch of the planned workpiece
Second meeting:
Please bring the following to the second meeting to discuss your project:
- Technical drawing with the true-to-scale dimensions
- List of materials required
- Overview of the cuts and designs
- Information on the use of tools and machines
- Exact sequence of work steps with time schedule
After the two meetings, you can start with the practical work.
The module supervisor, Prof. Dr. Ralf Kiran Schulz, will assess your performance.
