The 29th doctoral seminar: This time in Heilbronn

From March 25 to 27, 2025, the 29th Doctoral Seminar took place in Heilbronn for the first time. 20 Doctoral candidates from the Chair of Information Systems at the University of Kassel and the Institute of Information Systems and Digital Business (IWI-HSG) at the University of St. Gallen presented their dissertation projects in various formats - from Relevance Pitch and Idea Talk to Dissertation Proposal and Abstract for Journal Paper. The intensive exchange with Professors, post-docs and other participants provided valuable feedback and new perspectives for the further development of the research projects.

A special highlight was the second day of the seminar, which took place in cooperation with the Chair of Information Infrastructures at the Technical University of Munich (TUM) in the experimenta (Science Center). In addition to an inspiring lecture by Prof. Dr. Chunyang Chen, there were exciting insights into the acquisition of funding in Germany and Switzerland, presented by Ivo Blohm and Ali Sunyaev. In the subsequent panel discussion, experienced researchers Sofia Schöbel, Philipp Ebel, Mahei M. Li and Sebastian Lins shared valuable insights and best practices.

The seminar also promoted interdisciplinary exchange between the participating chairs from the University of Kassel, the University of St. Gallen and the Technical University of Munich. In interactive sessions, the participants developed new paper ideas - across chairs and in small groups.
