Under this motto,more than 100 guests from society, media, politics, business and science discussed the opportunities and risks of digitization at the conference of the project "Challenge Cloud and Crowd" funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) on April 25, 2018 in Frankfurt am Main. One focus of this conference, organized by the Department of Information Systems (Prof. Dr. Jan Marco Leimeister) at the University of Kassel and held in cooperation with IG Metall and ver.di, was work via crowdworking platforms. 

After the welcome by Christiane Benner, deputy chairwoman of IG Metall and host of the event, as well as a greeting by Erik Mertens, Head of Department Services and European Programs at the Project Management Agency Karlsruhe (PTKA) at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), a keynote by Prof. Dr. Jan Marco Leimeister, Head of the Department of Information Systems and Director of the Scientific Center for IT Design (ITeG) at the University of Kassel, on the topic of "Crowdworking platforms as innovative service systems." 

This was followed by a panel discussion moderated by Professor Leimeister with Christiane Benner (Second Chairwoman of IG Metall), Monika Brandl(Chairwoman of the ver.di Trade Union Council), Mirjam  Pütz (Managing Director, Chief Digital Office Deutsche Bank) and Bastian Unterberg (Chief Executive Officer of the crowdworking platform Jovoto). After the lunch break, the conference participants then had the opportunity to deepen the topics of the morning in workshops focusing on the perspectives of the companies, the crowdworking platforms and the crowdworkers. A keynote by Anna  Kopp, Head of IT at Microsoft Germany, and a keynote by Professor Melissa Valentine, PhD, Co-Director of the Center for Work, Technology, and Organization (WTO) at Stanford University, broadcast from California via video conference, rounded out the event.
