For her publication entitled "The role of design patterns in the development and legal assessment of lawful technologies", Ernestine Dickhaut was awarded second place (1st Runner-Up) in the AISD First Award.

The AIS Chapter Germany (AISD) presented the AISD First Award for the second time at the European Conference on Information Systems (ECIS 2023). The award recognizes early career researchers for their achievement as well as honoring an outstanding publication that was published in a leading journal as the very first IS journal article.

The publication demonstrates how interdisciplinary design patterns can support both development and legal assessment in court. A theoretical model is used to analyze and explain the interaction between new technologies and existing legislation.
