WISE @ LRECCOLING 2024

Presentation and discussion of our research at LRECCOLING 2024 in Turin

We are delighted to have been able to attend LREC-COLING 2024 from May 20-25 in beautiful Torino, Italy. It was an incredible opportunity to present our research on "Modeling Argumentation for a User Opinion Aggregation Tool".

Our team, consisting of Pablo Weingart, Thiemo Wambsganß and Matthias Söllner from the University of Kassel and Bern University of Applied Sciences, presented an innovative argumentation annotation scheme. This schema captures argumentative structures and contextual details in different user opinion domains using a dataset of over 1,000 user opinions and more than 7,000 sentences.

Key achievements include:

  • The training of transformer-based models to predict argumentative statements and contextual details.
  • The development of a prototype dashboard for aggregating and rating products based on user opinions.
  • Positive feedback from experimental reviews with users.

We are grateful for the insightful discussions and feedback from the computational linguistics community. We look forward to future collaborations and progress in this exciting field!
