Playfully earning money in the KLab experimental laboratory

In the KLab, researchers from the Department of Economics at the University of Kassel conduct experimental studies. The lab has been in existence since 2016 and is located in the WISO A building at Nora-Platiel-Straße 4 on the Hopla Campus. Studies conducted in the KLab have already resulted in a number of high-profile published research articles and successfully completed PhDs.

In KLab, experiments are conducted in which participants make certain decisions under controlled conditions that affect their profits. From the decisions we try to learn how people behave in certain situations. At the beginning, participants are given precise instructions describing what their task is and how the decisions affect their profit. Sometimes it is not only their own decisions that determine their profit, but also the decisions of other participants or good luck or bad luck. So sometimes it is more money and sometimes less.

All students at the University of Kassel are invited to register in the KLab participant pool. The registered students then receive invitations to participate in experiments that take place either in the lab at Hopla or online. As a rule, no special prior knowledge is required for this, so in principle anyone can participate.
