The group of Prof. Garcia at the University of Kassel deals with the Theory of Ultrafast Phenomena in solids and nanostructures. In particular, the description of ultrafast structural changes induced by intense femtosecond laser and X-ray pulses belongs to our main research interests. Further activities include the calculation of electronic- transport and optical properties of solids and nanostructures. Recently, the study of the dynamics of protein folding under external fields as well as the description of transport of synaptic vesicles in cells have been incorporated to the research topics of our group. We maintain collaborations with many experimental groups of Germany, Japan, USA, Switzerland, Sweden, Mexico and Argentina.
