Vita
Irene has been working for the DFG-funded Landscape Chains project since September 2019. She investigates how global and local value chains can lead to sustainable landscape management. In 2018 she received her Master of Science in Ethnobotany from the University of Kent. She also has a Master's degree in Nature Management and a BA in Landscape Architecture and Planning from the University of Copenhagen.
Research Foci
Irene is primarily interested in the presentation and survey of biocultural diversity in and between communities. In her work she combines participatory and visual methods to collect and share stories. Her goal is to build bridges of knowledge and experience between science and local people. Her topics so far have been agrobiodiversity in temperate mountain areas, gardens, nature conservation, restoration ecology, environmental and nature philosophy. She has experience in Europe and Scandinavia. But with Landscape Chains she now also deals with the Mediterranean region and North Africa.
