Dr. Doreen Schober

Doreen Schober, Ph.D. is a biologist/food chemist with an in-depth background in viticulture and oenology in academic and industrial settings. She completed her doctorate in 2016 at the University of Kaiserslautern in cooperation with the Dienstleistungszentrum Ländlicher Raum (DLR) Rheinpfalz in Neustadt, Germany in the group for oenology and sensory analysis of Prof. Dr. Ulrich Fischer. After an initial postdoctoral position at the Weincampus Neustadt, she worked in the wine industry in Chile and has since focused on various topics related to grape and wine quality, in particular the development of instrumental methods including UV-Vis fluorescence spectroscopy, liquid and gas chromatography, data modeling and sensory analysis. Other areas of Doreen's academic interest include yeasts, enzymes, fermentation processes, aroma formation, terroir studies and bio-regenerative viticulture. In October 2024, she joined Prof. Fabian Weber's group with the aim of bringing her background in instrumental analysis and phytochemicals to the field of organic food quality.
