In addition to her teaching role in the master module Research Methods and in the bachelor module Sustainable Management in the Agricultural and Food Sector, she supervises theses and projects and organises our international field trip to Spain in 2019. Besides teaching Maren is significantly involved in the development of research projects and is therefore involved in networking activities with actors from the food and agricultural sector.
During her studies, she focused on the analysis of sustainability aspects in organisations and value chains in the food industry. Maren holds a Bachelor's degree in International Studies of Global Management from the University of Applied Sciences Bremen and a Master's degree in Sustainability Science from Leuphana University Lüneburg. She studied one semester abroad at the Universidad Técnica Federico Santa María de Valparaíso in Chile and gained further international experience in various South American countries, where she did internships related to farming and management of agri-food business.
Before joining the unit, she worked in an agricultural consultancy where she gained experience in project acquisition and management of international projects within the bilateral cooperation programme of the Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture (BMEL) and projects in the area of development cooperation.
By taking part in a one-year transdisciplinary research project and carrying out various internships during her academic training, Maren has been expanding her knowledge of national and international developments in the agri-food sector as well as her knowledge of how to plan, measure, control and coordinate sustainability-related aspects in organisations and value chains. In her doctoral thesis she will deal with questions of organizational and institutional trust in the organic food business.
