A citizen participation model ofsolarcampus.

The photovoltaic system "Am Sande" was designed at the University of Kassel under the students project SolarCampus and put into operation on 29.12.2006. The complex consists of 79 polycrystalline Mitsubishi modules with a total collector area of ​​113 m², and has a total capacity of 14.22 kW. The roof pitch is 30 °, the roof surface is oriented to southeast direction. See profileplan.

Three inverters (SB 4200TL) change direct current (DC) to alternating current (AC), and each power inverter ie fed by 2 strings consisting of 13 modules each, see stringplan.

The investment costs amounted to € 67,890 and were paid by a retail investor in a fund. The plant is operated by Solardach-Invest GmbH in D-35091 Cölbe, Germany.

Concerning the german electricity law (EEG) solar electricity is fed into the public grid and payed with  € 0.52 / kWh . The yield is expected to be between 4 - 6%.
