The status of agroecology policy in Germany and EU, why and how now?
Background: Agroecology is a new paradigm promoting diversity on farms and empowerment of farmers in the food system. On the other hand, it is technology-open but oriented on sustainability. Recently, this policy has also arrived in German agricultural policy making. Also, agroecology is a highly context-specific agenda.
Aim: This work aims to assess the status of knowledge and awareness of agroecology in Germany and explain it. Further it aims to analyse reactions of different stakeholder groups such as the farmers’ association, the organic farming sector, food processing industry and civil society groups and environmental NGOs.
